Dallas Animal Services Officers respond to Service Requests made through the City of Dallas 311 system by phone, mobile app, or online form 24/7, 365 days a year. This page provides specific instructions on how to report different concerns.

Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request Animal Aggressive Activity (or call 311) to report animal attacks, aggressive activity and aggressive pack activity on public or private property, school grounds, and day care centers.
If you are in immediate danger or in need of emergency medical assistance, please get to a safe place and call 911.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Bite or call 311 to report that someone has been bitten or scratched by an animal.
This service request can be entered whether or not the animal is owned.
Veterinary clinics requesting rabies testing specimens may also enter their requests here due to them being bite related.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Lack of Care or call 311 to report an animal in critical condition. On question 5 of this form, there is an option to select Critical Condition – Immediate Threat to Loss of Life.
***Please only use this option if there is an immediate threat to the animals life. Selecting it to move your request up higher in the queue will potentially endanger the life of another animal in immediate distress.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Lack of Care or call 311 to report animal cruelty.
Dallas Police Department’s Southeast division has a dedicated animal cruelty unit.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Confined or call 311 to report an animal being transported in the open bed of a motor vehicle.

Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Lack of Care or call 311 to report an owned pet left outside during a heat advisory or if the temperature falls below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. When you get to question 5 on the form, select the option Domestic animal left in extreme temperatures.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Lack of Care or call 311 to report owned pets that have been left outside without access to food, clean water, or shelter from the elements.

To report an injured or ill coyote using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, please select the category Animal Wildlife. Or, call 311.
Do not touch or interact with wild animals.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Dead Animal Pickup to request the removal of dead animals. Place the deceased animal in a plastic bag (if possible) and relocate it to the front curb of your property for removal.
A $125 service fee will be applied to the Dallas Water Utility account number associated with the service address if the animal weighs more than 100 pounds.
Requests received Monday-Friday after 5PM, Saturday after 2:30PM, or Sunday after 1:30PM are resolved the next business day. The estimated response time for a service request of this nature is 1 business day.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select service request type Community Cats (or call 311) to report stray cats that do not have any visible signs of injury or illness. Service requests of this nature will be dispatched to our Community Cat Team who will reach out to assess your service needs.
This type may also be used for those who wish to take advantage of our Community Cat program, which subsidizes free spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccination, and ear-tip for community cats for City of Dallas residents. Learn more about how to utilize the City of Dallas Community Cat program.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Lack of Care (or call 311) to report community cats that appear to be injured or ill.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Nuisance or call 311 to report an improperly tethered dog.

If your pet is microchipped, check the chip! Call the microchip company with your pet’s microchip number to ensure they have your correct contact information. Look up the microchip company with your pet’s microchip number.
If you need your pet scanned for a microchip to update their info, ask your veterinarian, local pet store, or come to the shelter during operating hours.

Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Nuisance or call 311 to report dogs or cats that are not vaccinated for rabies. All owned dogs and cats should be wearing a collar with their rabies tag visible at all times, or, be able to present proof of vaccination to an Animal Services Officer.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request Animal Illegal Vending to report the illegal sale of any animals on public property and the illegal sale of dogs, cats, or exotic animals on private property. Or, call 311.
Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Confined or call 311 to report a pet trapped in an enclosed vehicle. If there is a heat advisory in place, call 911, as it may be mere minutes before heat stroke or death can occur. Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app,
Work as quickly as you can to locate the pet’s owner – if at a business, ask the onsite manager or security officer to make an announcement. Then, take a picture of the vehicle and license plate, and note the time first observed.

Using the City of Dallas 311 online form or OurDallas app, select the service request type Animal Confined to report a property with a prohibited animal (definition below). If these are being sold, instead select Animal Illegal Vending. Or, call 311.
SEC. 7-1.1. DEFINITIONS.
(30) PROHIBITED ANIMAL means:
(A) a “dangerous wild animal” as that term is defined in Section 822.101 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, as amended;
(B) a margay, badger, wolf, dingo, elephant, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, non-human primate (other than a spider monkey or capuchin), crocodile, alligator, caiman, gavial, venomous amphibian or reptile, racer, boa (other than a red-tail boa), water snake, python (other than a ball python), hawk, eagle, vulture, and owl; and
(C) any hybrid of an animal listed in Paragraph (A) or (B) of this subsection (other than a dog-wolf hybrid).

Alternatively: If safe and possible, please bring the animal directly to 1818 North Westmoreland Road between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily.
Citizens are responsible for the animals they confine and will be held responsible for ensuring they are kept out of the sun/rain and given food and water during confinement.

We do not dispatch animal services officers to each individual report. Instead, we use the reporting data to identify where each day’s pro-active patrols will be most effective. The goal of these patrols is to capture multiple loose dogs at once.
Sometimes these dogs are unowned, but sometimes they are escaped pets! If safe and possible, try to snap a picture and post to your neighborhood’s Facebook group or Nextdoor (include the cross streets spotted at) in case their owners are looking for them.
