Tips For Finding Your Lost Pet

Dallas Animal Services (DAS) takes in dozens of pets daily and we encourage anyone missing a pet to check this page daily and to visit our shelter as viewing pets in person is the most reliable way to locate your pet.

Visit Dallas Animal Services at 1818 North Westmoreland Road from 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Steps to Search for Your Lost Pet

Within The First Hour

Make a Lost Pet Report with Petco LoveLost

Petco LoveLost uses your pet’s photo and facial recognition technology to search lost pet reports from your local area, and across the country. You can generate a virtual lost pet report, sign up to receive alerts about your lost pet, and use their template to create a custom lost pet flyer.

Spread the Word

Alert your neighbors by using the methods your community utilizes to communicate. This could include Nextdoor, a Facebook group, or a neighborhood platform/email list. Be sure to include a photo of your pet, your pet’s last known location, and your personal contact information.

Contact the Microchip Company

If your pet is microchipped, alert the microchip company. Report your pet as lost and make sure your contact information is up to date. To locate the contact information for your microchip company, search your pet’s microchip number on the AAHA website.

Canvas the area

Hang your Petco LoveLost flyers at major intersections, local vet offices, and other community spots such as the grocery store or library.  Search social media for local lost pet pages and post your virtual flyer! Here are a few other local shelters that you may want to check-
