DAS takes in dozens of pets each and every day. Be sure to check our Stray Pets Page frequently to see if we have your pet. Note that lost adult pets are held in our shelter for 3 days before being evaluated for our adoption program. Please email DASpetsupport@dallas.gov if you have any questions or would like to connect with a staff member.
If you would like to visit the shelter to look for your lost pet, come to our green "intake" doors. Our lost and found hours are 11 AM - 7 PM Monday through Friday and 11 AM - 6 PM weekends.
View Stray Pets at Other Shelters
Many other local shelters have stray pets, and while most lost pets don't wander far from their neighborhood, there's always a chance your pet could end up in another city. If you're not in Dallas or on the border of another municipality, be sure to check other local shelter pages for pets that have come in as strays. Some local stray pets also end up at the SPCA of Texas so be sure to check out their stray pets page as well.
Spread The Word in Your Neighborhood
Make sure your neighbors are aware that your pet has gone missing. Post “lost pet” flyers in your neighborhood and utilize social media venues like Facebook (including local neighborhood and community pages), Twitter and Nextdoor to post about your missing pet. Ask your neighbors, postal delivery workers, yard crews, etc. if they’ve seen your pet.
Below are a few different lost pet groups and community boards on Facebook that might help you find your pet.
