Your adoption folder contains post-surgery instructions, but here’s some additional information you may find helpful. If you are concerned about your pet’s post-spay/neuter symptoms, please email DASPetSupport@dallas.gov
Your adoption folder should have your pet’s medical history which includes the date of their vaccinations. Please keep this in a safe place for reference and consider sending a copy to your veterinarian. If you’d like a digital copy please email your request to DASPetSupport@dallas.gov with your pet’s Animal ID number.
It is critical that you keep your dog on heartworm prevention as the disease is widespread in Texas. Transmitted by mosquitos, this disease is far less costly to prevent than to treat.

Why Your Dog Needs to Stay Current on Flea, Tick, and Heartworm Protection
While your cat may seem interested in exploring the outdoors, we strongly advise against allowing your cat outdoors. Both urban wildlife and un-owned outdoor felines that have not been vaccinated pose a risk to your cat’s health, whether through spread of disease or injury. It also increases the risk of your cat becoming lost or being hit by a car. That said, if you do choose to let your cat outside, please visit the below link for tips on how to let your cat outdoors responsibly.
