Lost Pets at DAS

Dallas Animal Services (DAS) takes in dozens of pets daily. Every pet is entered automatically into Petco LoveLost, and many other local shelters utilize this service.

As soon as your pet goes missing, please make a report on the Petco LoveLost website and search the site for your lost pet.

Visit Dallas Animal Services at 1818 North Westmoreland Road at the green Intake doors for assistance.

Operating hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As Soon As Your Pet Goes Missing:

Petco LoveLost uses your pet’s photo and facial recognition technology to search lost pet reports from your local area, and across the country. You can generate a virtual lost pet report, sign up to receive alerts about your lost pet, and use their template to create a custom lost pet flyer.

Alert your neighbors by using the methods your community utilizes to communicate. This could include Nextdoor, a Facebook group, or a neighborhood platform/email list. Be sure to include a photo of your pet, your pet’s last known location, and your personal contact information.

If your pet is microchipped, alert the microchip company. Report your pet as lost and make sure your contact information is up to date. To locate the contact information for your microchip company, search your pet’s microchip number on the AAHA website.

Next Steps

Hang your Petco LoveLost flyers in your immediate area. Most pets are found within a mile or two of home. Talk to your neighbors, mail person, or anyone else out and about in your neighborhood to let them know to look out for your lost pet.

You know your pet best and are more likely to recognize your pet in person.  We recommend visiting the shelter (at least every other day) to see if your pet has been found.

Dallas Animal Services responds to service calls 24 hours a day which means your pet could arrive at the shelter at any time. Keep checking Petco Love Lost!

If your pet is at our shelter and it is outside of operating hours or you are unable to come to the shelter immediately, please email DASPetSupport@dallas.gov.

Pets can go missing for months and return home if they are microchipped. Don’t lose hope!
