Can't Keep Your Pet?

Resources to help you keep your pet

Dallas Pets Alive PASS Program

Dallas Pets Alive!’s PASS (Positive Alternative to Shelter Surrender) Program which offers resources to help families keep their pets. If you are considering rehoming your pet, please fill out this form to see if any assistance can be provided.

If you recently adopted from DAS or another shelter, we would encourage you to look over our 3-3-3 Rule Flyer which covers what you can expect from a recently adopted pet at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. Going to a new environment can overwhelm many pets.

Free & Low-Cost Pet Care

We have several low-cost and free events every month for Dallas residents. Update your pet’s vaccines, sign up for spay/neuter services, and receive free pet food. View our upcoming events.

FAQ

Home-to-Home

Home To Home™ is an online platform that allows residents to proactively rehome their pets when keeping them is no longer an option. This is a great option if you can keep your pet while you rehome them or you want to find them a great new family yourself.

Surrender your pet to DAS

Effective June 2, Dallas Animal Services will temporarily pause the acceptance of new owner surrender appointment requests for approximately 3-4 weeks.

Emergency cases will continue to be served without appointment and should come directly to the Pet Support Center for admission evaluation. Examples of an Emergency Surrender include, Medical Crisis, Sudden Eviction or Housing Loss, Natural Disaster Displacement, Violence or Aggression.

If you feel you or your pet’s health or safety is at risk, please call 311.
