10 Mar Not Ready to Commit? Try Foster-To-Adopt!

Adopting a new pet is a big life decision! We want to make sure everyone choosing to adopt has a great experience. One of the ways we make adopting a pet a smooth transition is through our foster-to-adopt program!

You can take home a pet for a few weeks to see if they work for your family, and if not, you can make an appointment to bring them back. The pet benefits from a break from the shelter and new information about how they behave in a home environment.

Adoptions are free, returning them from your foster-to-adopt trial is free, and all medical care for the pet is covered during the foster-to-adopt trial. Your pet will also be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped by Dallas Animal Services.

If you’d like to foster-to-adopt, simply come to 1818 North Westmoreland Road during our operating hours, find a pet you’d like to take home and ask your adoption counselor about the foster-to-adopt option.
